Granted, this was not what she had expected of Rocket. But then again, they were dog types. Even Rockets would make an exception for those. Plus, they could be jerks about this, she reckoned. That would make it right, probably. Not that she cared too much. As always, Vio was just here for the ride, hoping that her partner was more qualified for this than she was. The big mission in Sootopolis she was preparing for properly. This here? She was pretty much just going to wing it. Probably no one would complain about that, either.

Though the partner she got for this looked like he was some dork coming straight from the Ren Faire. Not the greatest outlook. But she was not going to let that colour her actions….too much. At least the Lycanroc he had with him looked suitably Rocket. Much like her own shiny Rattata that was currently perching on her shoulder. “Seems like you already found the first hound,” she greeted the other with a little bit of a joke. He was already treating his Pokemon like any dog owner would, so naturally Vio would comment on that.

“Well, for today at least. Beyond that, I guarantee for nothing,” she replied, deciding to be a bit flirty just to tease him. He had some muscles under closer inspection, but she did not know whether or not she liked his style yet. Vio would see. And that meant playing it a bit aggressively just in case. One could always reject the other later. A certain League jack had taught her that much.

But, oh well, she would just play it by ear. As she always did. “Hmm, I recently fought a Matias in a battle. You do look a little like him, even,” she replied, before taking a closer look at his Pokeon. It looked well groomed and properly trained. Nothing like her Rattata of course, but that one was special
Speaking of, the little one briefly hesitated, as if inspecting the finger. But then it grinned in return. “It’s a girl, actually. And I have not figured out a proper name yet. It did not like any of the previous suggestions, at least.” Violet chuckled. She rarely handed out nicknames after all. Though for this one, she honestly might. The young woman was not quite sure yet.

Hah. Almost too easy. He truly was a dork after all. Well, too bad. Her interest waned more and more as she realized that. At least in that regard. Though she was still perfectly willing to string him along, one way or another. “Well, usually family comes from family names. First names probably just means that your parents think similarly, I’d wager,” she joked back, taking his reply and rolling with it, much like he had done. It was a silly thing to talk about, meaning absolutely nothing. Yet, talking about names was an easy way to get at least a little bit intimate with banter without coming across any touchy subjects. Names were, at the end of the day, just names.

Naturally, his dog caught the scent more quickly, which was fine enough with her. Rats were not meant to be trackers. They were survivors and scavengers. Not the noblest of pursuits, but generally those that kept you alive. “Hm, sure, let’s follow him. And I am Violet, pleasure to properly make your acquaintance, Matt.”

“As dog-types are wont to do,” she replied, already knowing. Her father and brother had used them for much the same purpose back in the day, after all. They probably still did. But she had not seen or spoken either of them in years. For all she knew, they could be dead.

But she kid. While she did not actively reach out for her family, she had at least some channels. If something that terrible had happened, she would know. Whether or not she would do anything in that regard was up in the air, but she would know at least.

Either way, sshe pushed any thoughts of family away again, returning to this mission for her family of choice instead. “The colour, actually. Though the natural assumption would be to ask my parents that.” Though it ironically was correct here. She had chosen the name, after all. But she did not for a moment suspect that he could have figured that out on his own.
However, they were soon instead focused ahead of them, with his little dog rushing away. “Well, they probably found something to eat, or a prospective meal slash prey. That’s usually what gets dogs this riled up, in my experience.”

A gift from god, eh? Vio didn’t believe in those. Well, her faith was a complicated matter anyway. But she was, in general, the kind of person that believes that one was the smith of their own luck. There was chance, yes, but that was not the will of an omnipotent being – it was just randomness, which could be manipulated in one’s favour.

But hey, who was she to tell his parents anything? She did not even know the people. “Well, I do hope that you have lived up to that name for them, then,” she added with a chuckle, lightly teasing the young man. Not like she had any leg to stand on in that regard. Then again, that very much was the point.

Vio just liked toying with people. “It could be. Maybe they found a Pokemon carcass and are feeding on it or something,” she hence softly mused as they approached the building. “But yes, let’s go. I will cover you.” Naturally, she wasn’t going to go in first. That was something for the men and dogs of this world to do. Heck, she essentially assumed he would, anyway.

Hah. That suggestion clearly got to him. She almost felt bad for the poor boy. Well, almost, really. Only not really. In fact, seeing him in a bit of distress like this only made her want to tease him more. So, she would do that, once the situation was less potentially dangerous. Best he go first, fight whatever there was to fight for her.

Then she could tease once more. And since the situation seemed rather simple on the surface, that did not last long to begin with. “Yampers, hmm….but that is a bit…anticlimactic, don’t you think?” Arms crossed, she looked around, looking if there were any other Pokemon. “It did sound like we were looking for more than just two docile yampers, right? I don’t mind easy but this still feels a bit…off to me, you know? After all, what did draw them here to begin with?”

“It isn’t jinxing if I am right to begin with,” she replied, looking around. Honestly, there was not much point in this ‘mission’ if all they had to do was wander around fro a bit and go into a building. Any ape pokemon could do that much. Well, as long as they were paired with an Arcanine. Heck, the Arcanine could have done all of this already, on its own. No, there had to be more than that, so she started walking down the hall, investigating, while he played with the doggies.

Yeah, he was a dork through and through. Though she did have to admit that he had at least a little bit of courage, moving towards the noise as soon as he heard it and do some investigating of his own. Naturally, she followed, peeking into the room as well, but staying out of line of sight mostly, just in case. “Well, probably nothing legal, I’d wager. Though that does not mean it is a bad thing. Well, not necessarily, at least.”
